The "Will the Real Waiter Please Stand Up" Scam: How a Random Guy in an Apron Ate My Wallet in Sultanahmet

What happened?

So, there I was, romantic candlelit dinner in Sultanahmet, feeling like an absolute travel queen. The restaurant was pure chaos—waiters flying around like they were running a marathon. Suddenly, a man in a black apron slides next to our table with the smooth confidence of a Hollywood star. He drops the bill folder, flashes a million-dollar smile, and whispers: 'Hanımefendi, good news! Our credit card machine is having a mental breakdown tonight. But if you pay 2500 TL in cash right now, I’ll give you a secret 10% discount. Me, thinking I just won the Turkish lottery, quickly handed him 2300 TL cash. He thanked me, gave me a polite bow, and vanished into the night like Batman. Ten minutes later, our actual waiter arrives with the real bill. I smiled and said, 'Oh, I already paid your colleague!' The waiter looks at me, blinks, and says, 'Hanımefendi... we don't have a colleague who looks like that. And our card machine works perfectly.'Turns out, some random dude literally walked off the street, put on an apron, played the role of his life for 2 minutes, and successfully robbed me. I paid twice for a single kebab. Peak comedy.

What should I do?
