What travelers are asking
Where do I leave my stuff when swimming alone in Kaş?
Planning a few beach days in Kaş. It’s not my first solo trip, but what do I do with my phone and bag when I want to swim? I’m quite worried about them getting nicked, especially somewhere unfamiliar where I’d struggle to find my way back to the hotel without my phone. Would be a proper pain to deal with on my own.
Antalya car rental — why would we need a big deposit if we paid for “full insurance”?
Trying to book a rental car in Antalya and apparently “full insurance” doesn't mean what I thought it meant? If we buy the coverage on the booking website, can the rental desk still hold a big deposit and ask us to buy THEIR insurance too? How do you figure out the actual total before booking? The situation I'm worried about is arriving with tired kids and being told our credit card won't work unless we pay for some extra package. What do you do then? Call your bank right there? Also, would you book directly with the rental company instead of a comparison site? Happy to pay a bit more upfront if it means fewer surprises. Anyone rented recently and had a straightforward pickup AND return? Please share the deposit amount, how long it took to release, and whether your child seat was actually there. That last part is a dealbreaker for me.
Lara or Belek with little kids — can you actually sleep before midnight?
How do you pick a family hotel in Antalya that isn't blasting music right outside your room every night? Lara and Belek both look beautiful, but “family friendly” seems to mean everything from toddler pools to huge evening shows. Fun, sure... until you're trying to get an exhausted kid to sleep lol. Would you book a sea-view room or is that sometimes the noisy side? And can you actually reserve a quiet room, or do they just say “we'll try” when you arrive? Also wondering about the beach. Is the water shallow for a bit, or does it get deep fast? I'd rather know about stones, waves and slippery entrances before getting there. If you've stayed recently, which hotel and room area worked for you? Please include the month you went. Pretty brochure pics arent helping me figure this out 😅
Is it still warm enough to swim in Antalya in late October?
Yes, it is usually still warm enough to swim in Antalya in late October. The sea often remains around 23–25°C, so many locals and visitors continue swimming, especially on sunny days. It may actually feel warmer in the water than when you get out if there is a breeze. The weather is less predictable than in summer. Daytime conditions can still be pleasantly warm, but evenings are cooler, daylight is shorter and occasional heavy rain or thunderstorms are possible. Antalya’s long-term October average temperature is about 21°C, with around five to six rainy days during the month. For the best conditions, swim between late morning and mid-afternoon and choose sheltered beaches such as Lara, Konyaaltı or beaches around Side and Alanya. Pack summer clothes and swimwear, but also bring a light jacket and something waterproof. So yes—you will probably be able to swim, but I would not plan the entire holiday around having perfect beach weather every day.
