Antalya Airport to City Centre: Transport Options, Fares and Practical Tips

WhatsApp

Compare tram, bus, taxi and private transfer options for travelling from Antalya Airport to the city centre. Plan your journey by considering transport fares and current service information.

Your plane has landed in Antalya. You collect your luggage, step outside the terminal and feel the Mediterranean heat. Now comes the first practical decision of your trip: how do you get to your hotel without spending more than you need to?

Antalya Airport is approximately 13 km from the city centre. You can make the journey by tram, public bus, taxi or pre-booked transfer. The best option depends on where you are staying, when you arrive and how much luggage you have.

Here is how to choose, what to budget for and what to check before leaving the airport.

1. Take the Tram for an Affordable Journey into the City

If you are staying in central Antalya, particularly around the historic Kaleiçi district or near a tram stop, the AntRay tram is worth considering.

The airport is served by the Fatih–Airport–Expo tram corridor. Depending on the service and your destination, you can travel towards Meydan and the city, with connections to other parts of Antalya.

The main advantage is simple: you do not need to negotiate a fare with a driver or worry about road traffic in the same way you would in a car.

How to use it

  • Follow the airport signs towards the tram stop.
  • Check the direction of the service before boarding.
  • Identify the nearest tram stop to your accommodation, rather than simply choosing the stop labelled “city centre”.
  • Allow extra time if you need to walk from the tram stop to your hotel.

Kaleiçi has narrow streets and pedestrian areas, so a tram stop may be convenient even if a taxi cannot take you directly to your hotel entrance.

What does it cost?

Antalya's published standard public transport fare is 42 TL per journey with a full-fare Antalyakart. A contactless bank or credit card is listed at 50 TL per journey. These are published fares, not a guarantee that every ticket type or service has the same price.

Before boarding, confirm the current fare and accepted payment method. A contactless bank card may be convenient if you are only making a few journeys, while an Antalyakart may be more useful if you plan to use public transport throughout your stay.

One important detail: the official fare information states that contactless bank-card payments do not qualify for transfer discounts.

2. Use a Public Bus if It Suits Your Destination Better

The tram is not automatically the best option for every hotel. Antalya's municipal buses also serve the airport and other parts of the city.

A bus may be more convenient if its route takes you closer to your accommodation or connects with a neighbourhood that is not easily reached by tram.

The important thing is to check the actual route before boarding. A bus heading into Antalya is not necessarily going to the part of the city where you are staying.

Before you travel:

  • Check the route and departure time in the Antalyakart mobile app.
  • Confirm where you need to get off.
  • Check the payment rules for the specific service.
  • Leave room in your journey plan for waiting time and any necessary transfer.

For route and timetable enquiries, Antalya's transport information line is 0242 606 07 07.

If you arrive late at night, do not assume that the next bus or tram will arrive soon. Check the timetable for your actual arrival time before deciding to rely on public transport.

3. Take a Taxi When Convenience Matters More

After a long flight, public transport may be the last thing you want to navigate. If you have several suitcases, are travelling with young children or are arriving tired after midnight, a taxi may be the more practical choice.

Taxis are available at Antalya Airport. Your fare will depend on the journey and the applicable taxi tariff, so it is not sensible to promise one fixed price for every hotel in the city.

Before setting off:

  • Confirm that the taxi meter is being used.
  • Tell the driver the exact name and address of your accommodation.
  • Check the destination on your own map if you are unfamiliar with the area.
  • Keep your hotel address available offline in case your mobile connection is unreliable.

You do not need to become suspicious of every driver. The aim is simply to understand how your journey will be charged and where you are going.

Also consider the final part of the trip. If your hotel is inside Kaleiçi or another pedestrian area, ask where the taxi can leave you. You may still need to walk the last few minutes with your luggage.

4. Consider a Pre-Booked Airport Transfer

A private transfer can be a sensible option for families, groups, travellers with bulky luggage or people staying well outside central Antalya.

The main benefit is knowing in advance who will collect you and where the journey is expected to end. Depending on the provider, the booking may also include flight monitoring or a meeting point inside or outside the terminal.

However, a transfer is not automatically cheaper than a taxi or public transport.

Before booking, confirm:

  • The total price for your group, not just a per-person price.
  • Whether airport waiting time is included.
  • Whether child seats are available if you need them.
  • The exact drop-off address.
  • What happens if your flight is delayed.

For a group of four, compare the total transfer price with the combined cost of individual public transport fares. For one traveller with a backpack, the calculation may be very different.

5. Which Option Is Best for You?

Your situation A sensible starting point
Staying near a convenient tram stop AntRay tram
Travelling on a tight budget Compare tram and bus routes
Staying near a suitable bus route Municipal bus
Arriving with several heavy suitcases Taxi or pre-booked transfer
Travelling with children or a group Compare the total transfer cost
Landing late at night Check live timetables; arrange a backup
Staying in a pedestrian part of Kaleiçi Check the final walking distance

These are practical starting points rather than absolute rules. The location of your accommodation can matter more than the distance shown on a map.

6. What Should You Know About Paying for Public Transport?

Antalya uses the Antalyakart public transport payment system. Its official fare information lists several options, including a standard card, disposable tickets and eligible contactless bank cards.

The published full fare is 42 TL with a standard full-fare Antalyakart, compared with 50 TL when paying with a contactless bank card. Card and ticket purchase costs are separate from the journey fare.

If you are staying for several days, consider how often you expect to use public transport before choosing a payment method.

Do not assume that every payment option provides the same transfer rights. The published rules exclude transfer benefits for contactless bank-card payments and disposable tickets.

If you top up a physical Antalyakart online, the operator says the balance is reflected when the card is first presented to a validator or turnstile. Do not leave an important journey until the last minute if you are relying on a newly added balance.

7. A Few Mistakes Worth Avoiding

Choosing transport before checking your hotel location

“Antalya city centre” covers more than one neighbourhood. A route that works well for Kaleiçi may be less convenient for a hotel elsewhere in the city.

Assuming the cheapest fare means the cheapest overall journey

A bus or tram ticket may cost less, but consider any additional transfers, walking distance and time involved.

Relying on an old timetable

Airport transport schedules can change. Check the service for your arrival date and time, especially if your flight lands late.

Booking a transfer without checking the final price

Confirm the total cost, waiting-time policy and exact destination before paying.

Forgetting about the last few hundred metres

A hotel may appear close to a tram stop on a map, but the route could involve stairs, uneven paving or pedestrian streets. This matters when you have a heavy suitcase or limited mobility.

8. Before You Leave Antalya Airport

Take a moment to check three things: your accommodation's exact address, the current transport timetable and the payment method you intend to use.

If public transport takes you close to your hotel, the tram or bus may be all you need. If you are arriving exhausted, travelling with children or carrying several bags, paying more for a direct journey may be worthwhile.

Your first journey in Antalya does not have to be complicated. A little preparation can help you avoid unnecessary expense and start your holiday with one less thing to worry about.

The most useful rule is this: choose transport based on your actual accommodation and arrival time, not simply on the name of the destination.
