What Are These Unusual Cabins Inside Istanbul Airport?
Located in international departures, İGA Sleepod offers sleeping cabins costing €17.50 to €30.00 per hour. Free Napzone seats and premium YOTEL rooms are also available as alternative resting choices.

You check the departure screen again. Still hours to go. You have had coffee, scrolled through your phone and walked around the terminal. Eventually, what you want becomes simple: somewhere to stretch out, close your eyes and rest.
At Istanbul Airport, iGA Sleepod offers private sleeping pods rented by the hour. Before paying for one, however, make sure you can reach it. Being inside the terminal does not mean it is accessible to everyone at the airport.
What Is iGA Sleepod?
iGA Sleepod provides a compact personal space where passengers can lie down and rest between flights.
Think of a sleeping capsule rather than a hotel room. It does not offer a room to walk around in or a private bathroom.
Start by deciding what you need. Would a few hours lying down be enough, or do you want a larger room with a shower? That distinction helps you choose the right service.
Where Are the Sleeping Pods?
iGA Sleepod is airside on the international departures level, to the left of the lifts leading down to the D gates.
“Airside” means the controlled passenger area reached after the necessary security and passport checks.
Here is what that means in practice:
- Departing on an international flight: You can reach the area after completing the required departure formalities.
- Connecting between international flights: You may be able to use it if your transfer arrangements allow you to remain in or enter this area.
- Travelling only on a domestic flight: A domestic ticket does not give you access to this international departures area.
- At the airport to meet someone: You cannot walk directly to Sleepod from the public part of the terminal.
The pods’ location does not determine your departure gate. Resting near the D gates does not mean your flight will leave from there.
What Is Inside a Pod?
Pods have a power socket, USB connection, a disposable sheet and storage space for cabin baggage and personal belongings.
Being able to charge your phone while lying down can be useful during a long connection. Before putting your belongings away, check the storage compartment’s size and how it closes. Do not assume it will accommodate a large suitcase.
Nor should you expect the sound isolation of a hotel room. You are still inside an airport terminal. If you are sensitive to surrounding noise or light, earplugs and an eye mask may help.
How Much Does iGA Sleepod Cost?
The following hourly prices were listed on the official service page when checked on 19 October 2026:
| Time of use | Hourly price excluding taxes | Hourly price including taxes |
|---|---|---|
| 07:00–19:00 | €14.46 | €17.50 |
| 19:00–23:00 | €20.66 | €25.00 |
| 23:00–03:00 | €24.79 | €30.00 |
| 03:00–07:00 | €20.66 | €25.00 |
The official page states that 20% VAT and a 1% accommodation tax apply. Use the tax-inclusive column when estimating your budget.
Prices can change. Check the final amount at the service desk or checkout before purchasing.
How Much Would Two Hours Cost?
If both hours fall within the same pricing period, the published rates give these examples:
- 10:00–12:00: €35
- 20:00–22:00: €50
- 00:00–02:00: €60
These calculations exclude extras and discounts.
For a stay crossing two pricing periods, such as 18:00–20:00, ask how the charge is calculated. Do not assume that the starting rate applies throughout or that the booking will necessarily be split between rates.
Ask about partial hours, too. The hourly table alone does not explain how a 90-minute stay is billed.
Are Pillows and Blankets Included?
A sleeping kit containing a blanket, pillow and pillowcase is listed at €5.
Do not assume it is automatically included in the pod rental. Request it when purchasing and check the total.
For example, two daytime hours cost €35 under the published tariff. Adding the listed €5 kit brings the calculation to €40, subject to confirmation of the kit’s final charge.
Do You Need a Reservation?
The official iGA Pass page includes an online purchasing section with date, time and duration fields. The service should therefore not be described as available only through walk-up purchases.
If you prefer to arrange it at the desk, ask about available pods. Do not plan on a space being guaranteed when you arrive.
Before purchasing, read the start-time, late-arrival and cancellation conditions. Flight delays matter particularly if you have not yet reached the airport.
Is It Open Overnight? Are There Age Discounts?
iGA Sleepod operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Overnight rates are higher than the daytime rate.
A 35% discount for passengers aged 65 and over is advertised at service sales points. Have identification available and ask which charges qualify before paying.
Can You Use Priority Pass?
Priority Pass lists an offer allowing eligible members to use a visit entitlement for a two-hour Sleepod stay.
That does not mean every cardholder receives it free. Charges may depend on your membership or card issuer, and the sleeping kit may cost extra.
Check the current listing in your own app and your remaining entitlements before visiting. The two-hour limit attached to that offer should not be confused with a general limit on all paid Sleepod bookings.
The Free Alternative: Napzone
Napzone areas offer an alternative for passengers who want to rest without paying.
These are shared spaces with resting seats rather than private enclosed pods. Seat availability, lighting and surrounding noise can vary.
Follow terminal signs or ask an information desk for the nearest area, giving your current gate or location. A resting place closer to your departure gate may be more useful than walking across the terminal.
Want a Hotel Room? YOTEL and YOTELAIR Explained
The names are similar, but the hotels are on different sides of passport control.
| Option | Location | Who might consider it? |
|---|---|---|
| YOTEL Istanbul Airport | Landside, before passport control | Passengers who have not entered the international airside area |
| YOTELAIR Istanbul Airport | International airside, within the duty-free area | International departing or connecting passengers who can access that area |
The landside YOTEL is on the departures floor, opposite terminal entrance 7 and near check-in area P.
If your onward flight is domestic or you need to collect checked baggage, confirm access arrangements before booking YOTELAIR. An airport hotel booking does not remove passport or entry requirements.
Room prices depend on dates and availability. For a short stay, check the minimum booking duration and total charge rather than assuming an hourly rate.
Your Entire Connection Is Not Sleeping Time
Four hours until departure does not mean four hours available for sleep.
Allow time to leave the pod, collect your belongings, walk to the gate and board. Plan around the boarding time shown on your boarding pass and airport screens, not just the scheduled departure.
Check your gate before resting. Set an alarm, preferably with a second backup. Check the screens again when you wake, since your gate may have changed.
Which Option Makes Sense for You?
Consider Napzone for a free rest, Sleepod for a compact personal space to lie down, or YOTEL and YOTELAIR for a hotel room.
Before deciding, answer three questions: Can you access it from where you are? How much time must you leave to reach your gate? What will you pay after extras?
Once those details are settled, you can plug in your phone and set your alarm. During a long connection, a little time with your eyes closed can be a welcome break.
