About this place
Perched along the scenic Black Sea coast in Çaycuma, the Tios Archaeological Site (Filyos Ören Yeri) is the only ancient city in northern Türkiye that remains completely free of modern overbuilding. Originally founded as a Miletian colony in the 7th century BC, this coastal gem features a Roman-era castle overlooking the sea, an acropolis, ancient harbors, rock-cut tombs, and a theater, offering travelers a raw and authentic journey into ancient Paphlagonian and Roman maritime history
