About this place
Spanning the Kanak Creek on the historic route between Yozgat and Şefaatli, the Karabıyık Bridge (Karabıyık Köprüsü) is a magnificent 16th-century Ottoman monument. Commissioned in 1516 by Sultan Selim I (Yavuz Sultan Selim) during his historic Egyptian Campaign, this two-arched masterpiece is crafted entirely from finely dressed, dark-toned local stone. Reaching a total length of 54 meters, the ancient structure stands as a masterclass of early classic Ottoman bridge engineering, offering travelers an authentic and serene journey into Anatolia's imperial transportation and military history
