About this place

A highland destination visited for its mountain surroundings and plateau scenery. This listing covers the plateau itself, separately from accommodation businesses. Check road and weather conditions, keep vehicles off meadows and respect private property. Transportation and Road Conditions • Location: It is located approximately 31 kilometers from the center of Çamlıhemşin district. The drive from Rize city center takes about 1.5 to 2 hours on average. • Road Conditions: The final 10-15 kilometer section of the road after Çamlıhemşin is quite rough, rocky, and unpaved (single-lane). For this reason, traveling with high-clearance, durable vehicles (4x4 or SUV) is highly recommended. Key Activities • Cloud Sea and Swing: The most iconic image of the plateau is the moments that give the feeling of swinging above the clouds on giant swings set up facing the cliff. • Photography and Camping: It is highly popular for watching the waves of fog rolling through the mountains, nature photography, and tent camping. • Cultural Note: Some of the major outdoor scenes for the movie "Kazım: Yarım Kalan", which focuses on the life of artist Kazım Koyuncu and is scheduled to hit theaters in January 2027, were filmed on this plateau. Accommodation and Dining Although limited in number, there are local guesthouses and wooden bungalow houses available on the plateau. You can also enjoy local Black Sea dishes, mıhlama, and fresh plateau tea at the small cafes located on the hill.
