Plan your visit
Aksaray sits at the western edge of Cappadocia and offers volcanic landscapes, rock-cut churches, caravan routes and access to the Ihlara Valley. It is a practical base for travelers combining nature walks with Seljuk and early Christian heritage.
April to June and September to October are generally comfortable for hiking. Summers are hot and exposed, while winters may bring snow and icy paths.
Local buses connect major towns, but a rental car or organised excursion is more convenient for Ihlara, Güzelyurt and remote sites.
Travel conditions and opening arrangements can change. Check current information before your visit.
