Night bus from Istanbul to Cappadocia — did you get any sleep?

Thinking of taking the overnight bus to Cappadocia to save a night’s accommodation. I’ve done night buses before, but some were absolutely rubbish for sleep. Anyone done this journey solo, and how did you find it? Mostly wondering whether I’ll arrive ready to explore or lose the whole next day recovering.

I’d only do it if you normally sleep okay sitting up. It’s roughly 10–13 hours, and with the stops you might get a few broken hours rather than a proper night’s sleep. Get a 2+1 bus and book the single seat so you’re not trying to sleep against a stranger. Wouldn’t book a tour for the morning you arrive. Leave that day for food and a wander around Göreme. If you’ve only got a couple of days in Cappadocia, I’d fly rather than risk spending one of them knackered.
