With two kids and a pile of luggage, I’d book a private minivan with suitable child seats confirmed in writing. “VIP” is just a word. What matters is whether your bags fit and the right seats actually turn up 😅
Before paying, send this:
“Please confirm the final total and currency for IST to [full hotel address], including taxes, tolls, airport parking, meet-and-greet, all declared luggage and the requested child seats. What waiting time is included, when does it start, and what is the charge after that? What happens if our flight is delayed or immigration takes longer than expected?”
That last bit matters: **a delayed flight and a long passport queue aren’t the same thing.** Ask whether they track your actual landing time, including delays past midnight. Get any extra waiting rate in writing.
For the seats, give each child’s age, height and weight. Ask them to confirm the number and suitable seat types against your booking—not just “we have baby seats.” A photo of the allocated seats helps, but you still need to check them and their installation before leaving. “Subject to availability” wouldn’t meet my needs here. Ask what replacement or refund they offer if the agreed seats are missing.
Send your exact suitcase count, stroller details and passenger count too. A van’s passenger capacity doesn’t tell you how much luggage fits with everyone seated.
For meeting up, get the exact arrivals exit or meeting point, a photo/map, the greeter’s identification and a working dispatch number. Ask whether you meet the driver or a greeter first, and how long the vehicle takes to arrive once you make contact. Don’t follow someone just because they’re holding a transfer sign—have them confirm your booking details.
Also ask the hotel whether the vehicle can reach its entrance. If you’ll need to walk the final stretch, you want to know that before unloading sleepy kids.
If nobody appears, stay together at the agreed meeting point, contact dispatch and send a photo of where you are. Keep screenshots of messages and call attempts. Have the hotel’s number ready as backup, and agree the operator’s no-show procedure before booking.
**If the driver asks for extra money before departure:** keep your luggage with you while you sort it out. Say:
“Our booking confirms the total, including these charges. Please call your office so we can resolve this before we leave.”
Contact the company through your saved booking number. Ask for the reason in writing; don’t hand over cash just to end an awkward conversation. If they insist on an unagreed charge, arrange a replacement through the operator or hotel—with suitable seats confirmed again. If things become threatening, head back to staffed airport areas and get security involved.
I don’t have a recent personal receipt to share, so I won’t invent a fare. Compare written quotes for your actual family and luggage setup. The cheapest headline price isn’t much of a bargain if the child seats are a maybe.
