First hamam visit — what do I actually wear?

Fancy trying a hamam in Istanbul but haven’t quite worked out what you wear. Do I bring a bikini or just use the towel they give you? Also, is the scrub done in front of everyone else or somewhere separate?

They give you a peştemal, the thin towel you wrap around yourself, but bring a bikini if you’d feel more comfortable. The scrub is usually in the shared bathing area, so ask for a private option if that bothers you.
