An eerie, magical underground world—but check your wallet and leave your cash behind!
"Walking into the Basilica Cistern feels like stepping directly into a fantasy movie. The chaotic noise of Sultanahmet completely vanishes, replaced by the soothing sound of dripping water and beautiful music echoing through the columns. The lighting slowly shifts colors, casting gorgeous shadows onto the water, and the two mysterious Medusa heads at the back are incredible to see in person. Tickets: Your Museum Pass Istanbul does NOT work here because it is managed by the municipality. Foreign tourist daytime tickets cost 1,950 TL.No Cash: The ticket counters do not accept cash at all. You must pay with a valid credit or debit card.Watch Your Step: The humidity is around 96% and water drips constantly from the ceiling. The walking platforms get very slippery, so wear shoes with good grip.Bring a Jacket: Even if it’s hot outside, the underground temperature drops to around 14°C. You will get chilly after 20 minutes inside.It only takes about 45 minutes to walk through, but the mysterious atmosphere is worth every Lira!"

Yerebatan Sarnıcı, İstanbul'un altında günümüze ulaşan en büyük ve tanınmış Bizans su deposudur. Yüzlerce sütunu, ışık yansımaları ve Medusa başlı kaideleri etkileyici bir yeraltı ortamı oluşturur.

Located in Sultanahmet, opposite the Hagia Sophia area.
Toplu taşıma: Use tram line T1 and get off at get off at Sultanahmet. Continue on foot for a few minutes.
Otopark: Parking is limited in Sultanahmet. Public transport is strongly recommended.

A platform lift may assist wheelchair users, but lift operation and route conditions should be confirmed with staff before visiting.

Usually busiest from late morning through the afternoon. Early morning is generally calmer.
