Tried Turkish street food after midnight in Taksim: Islak Burger is a game changer! 🍔🔥

Hey everyone, last post from me for a while! Last night I hung out around Istiklal Street and Taksim, and around 1 AM I noticed these long lines of locals gathered around small food stalls. I decided to follow the crowds and try some local street food instead of going to a proper restaurant.First, I tried the "Islak Burger" (Wet Burger). I was a bit skeptical because it looks like a soggy, steamed hamburger drenched in tomato sauce. But wow, the garlic flavor is incredible and it costs next to nothing! I ended up eating three of them. After that, I saw people standing around trays eating stuffed mussels (Midye Dolma) with lemon. The guy just keeps opening them and handing them to you until you say stop. Absolutely brilliant concept for a late-night snack.Honestly, Istanbul’s street food scene is 10/10 for a budget backpacker. Quick question for the locals: Is it safe to eat these street mussels during the hot summer months, or should I be careful about seafood from street vendors? Cheers for all the help on my previous posts

"Welcome to the Islak Burger addiction, John, it is the ultimate late-night food after a few beers! My girlfriend and I tried them for the first time last weekend in Taksim and we were completely blown away by that heavy garlic sauce. Regarding your question about the stuffed mussels, you actually asked a very smart question. We were warned by our hostel manager to be super careful with random street trays during the hot summer months because seafood spoils incredibly fast under the sun. If you want to eat them safely without risking food poisoning, my girlfriend and I found out that it's much better to go to established indoor street food shops rather than mobile carts. Places like Midyeci Ahmet or the busy spots around the Beşiktaş Fish Market have a massive daily turnover, meaning everything is always fresh and prepared in clean facilities. Have a safe flight back home, mate, your posts have been awesome!"
"Wow, I have actually never heard of a 'Wet Burger' before, that sounds absolutely wild! A steamed burger drenched in garlic tomato sauce is definitely something I need to experience after a night out. The whole mussel tray concept sounds brilliant too, though I completely understand your worries about the summer heat. I’m hitting Taksim this weekend with some mates, so I am 100% putting this street food crawl on my bucket list. Cheers for sharing this, John, have a safe trip!"
